Focus: Psalms 34:1 - KJV
1. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalms 34:1-11
Our God is a passionately loving God. All that He does continually, is good, for there is no evil in Him. David recognized this and made a case for why the Lord should be audibly praised at all times. Some claim to belong to God but will never praise Him openly before others. They will rather do so among their peers and never in places where they may encounter antagonism. This is the God that answers us when we seek Him, and He delivers us from our fears. He is one who has a way of giving hope to the hopeless such that when we look unto Him in a state of despair, He lights up our countenance and refuse to allow us to be put to shame. He ensures that we are saved from our troubles. If not for His mercies that are new every morning, we would have all been consumed. The Lord gives His angels charge because of us to camp around us like a shield, protecting us against enemies that we do not even know exist. And because we fear Him and stay in His counsel, He ensures we do not lack anything good. If the Lord should withhold any of His good deeds towards us, how would we fare? David feared the Lord and developed the habit of mouthing His praise continually. He lived a life of victory all through.
The Lord is asking us to emulate the culture of praise, whether or not we see what He is doing. Indeed, no matter what we appear to be going through, it definitely would have been worse if the Lord had not been on our side. How do we mouth the Lord’s praise? Let us develop the heart and attitude of praise. Mouthing praise is not feasible unless it is something that proceeds from the heart. If the heart rejoices in the Lord, it flows easily into praise. When we make it our business to audibly praise the Lord continually, soon it becomes a culture and habit which cannot be deterred or taken away. A person who sings the praise of God automatically carries God with himself all the time, for He inhabits the praises of His people. Whoever has God as his companion carries light in his presence and is never overcome by evil. Even when evil comes lurking, assuming it has a freeway to operate, once the light is brightened through praise, darkness disappears fast. What is it that makes the believer bow his head? It is never beyond the power of the light. Mouthing praise unto God continually is the answer to break the chord of darkness for the believer.
The Lord will give us the enablement to mouth His praise continually from today in Jesus’ name. Because when the light comes, darkness departs, as we begin to operate in a culture of praise, darkness will bow at our very appearing anywhere and at any time, in Jesus’ name. The Lord shall be our inseparable companion from this day to deliver us from all our fears in Jesus’ name. Even though the young lions do lack and suffer hunger, because we now carry the Lord as companion, we shall never lack any good thing in Jesus’ name. And from today, we all shall enjoy the unceasing ministry of angels, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: God deserves our praises. So let us praise the Lord. Just like He has given us the word to chew on day and night, let us also mouth His praise without ceasing. The benefits in doing so are unquantifiable.
