No Excuse For Ungodliness

Focus: 2 Peter 1:3 - KJV

3. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Peter 1:2-8

Society is full of hues and cries about the quality of people who occupy public positions and implement policies for the people. It is so sad that in their categorization of these people, the believer is lumped with others as people in religions who are yet ungodly. It is truly disturbing that many of those found wanting in public service are either said to be Christians or people of other religions who claim to be of God. As for the believer, there is no excuse to do ungodly things as he has been fully equipped for life and godliness. The essence of the death of Christ and our receiving Him as Lord and Savior is to exchange our filthy garment (of sin) for His clean garment of righteousness. Although at the time of our conversion, the garment of righteousness is way too big and unfitting for us, we are equipped by the one who called us and gave us the garment, to grow into it, with the correct nutrition we receive, first through the sincere milk of the word of God, and over time, through the meat thereof. Through these nutrients, we get to know more of our God and how we ought to live our lives and relate with Him. By this time, we start to grow into the garment to fit, and when it truly fits, we are said to have grown to the fullness of the stature of Christ. It is therefore, unfortunate that some, after having received the garment of righteousness forsake the same for their old ways and end up crucifying the Lord to the tree anew.

Beloved, every ungodliness of the believer is a direct afront to God. We cannot be called in the name of the Lord and not have regard for that name to end up desecrating it just like the heathen will do. Every act that is not approvable by God is worse than being in the filthy garment at the outset. When we lack the fear of God enough not to abstain from taking from the Church till unjustifiably, how then can we be relied upon to be entrusted with public coffers? Of course, if it happens, it will be emptied without flinching. Charity begins at home. Our home is the house of the Lord, our father. If as we serve in the vineyard of God, we are able to maintain sanctity fully, it becomes a part of us such that even when we go outside, our sanctity remains. Let us stop misrepresenting Christ and His body. All those who will by all means misbehave ought to first renounce their belief in Christ publicly, so that the world may know that they gave a warning beforehand. Claiming to be believers and going on to do ungodly things is obtaining by false pretense, pure and simple. If, however we must remain believers, let us be so in word and deed so that people and the Lord Himself may be able to vouch for us.

May the Lord find each and every one of us godly in all that we do, in Jesus’ name. May the society begin to believe more in the body of Christ from today, so that henceforth, when organizations are looking for chaste people to employ, they will look only to the believers in Jesus’ name. May the Lord expose every wolf in sheep’s clothing especially if they refuse to repent, in Jesus’ name. May the power of the resurrected Christ be formed in each of us that as we continue in the growth process, we may all come to the fullness of the stature of Christ and fit properly into His garment of righteousness in Jesus’ name. May righteousness begin to exalt our nations by the reason of the presence of the believers in the public space from now on, in Jesus’ name. And may the world begin to be a better place for all of mankind by the reason of the presence of believers, in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: Let the garment you have on show in all that you do in society. No ungodliness should be found in, or with you. As a child of God, you cannot be found in filthy things. As the salt of the earth, you are meant to be a cure to decay and not a source of decay.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
