Focus: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - KJV
16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Romans 15:4-6
Before the era of Christ, God used some men to try to direct men unto righteousness. They were not in any way perfect, but in their time and dispensation, they were the ones nearest to holiness that were available for God’s use. Abraham believed and obeyed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. It was not that he was righteous. Neither was Moses, Elijah, Aaron, Isaiah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist or what have you. All of these men of God are accounted for in scriptures by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit so that the believer in Christ, (who was the only righteous) could learn from their deeds and mistakes for correctness. Hence, for the imperfect man of God to be perfect, he reads of the works of those before him, learn from them and begins to be thoroughly furnished unto all good works, so that like Christ, he may be truly righteous and be a son and not necessarily, man of God.
What God has for us today is that we may graduate from the man of God mentality in which we live, into becoming truly children, when we begin to imbibe the milk of the word of God through studies of the past deeds and misdeeds of other men of God, and from there, graduate into meat tearing sons as we become wise enough not to be driven by the waves of doctrines, because of our better knowledge of the word of God. And as we continue in our gaining insight into the person of God through Christ, we begin to crush bones even as we develop into the stature of the fullness of Christ when we can truly be called joint heirs with Him. Hence, the span between the man of God and the son of God is wide but must be sought after and attained by the current men of God. No wonder Christ said, of all men that lived before John, he was the greatest but even at that level, he was lesser than the least in the Kingdom. A child of God is far greater than any man of God.
SOLUTION: Study to show yourself approved of God that you now know that there is only one way that leads to God, which is the way of Jesus Christ. Every other way misleads and ends in perdition. Be focused on Christ that you may equally become sons of God. Be led of the Spirit of God constantly, even as you study and meditate on scripture regularly.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for making available to you an opportunity to be greater than all men of God
· Ask Him to furnish you with the strength and understanding to rightly divide scripture that you may not imbibe and dwell on wrong teachings and doctrines
· Ask God to please reveal Himself to you every time you study His word
· Pray that you may have the ability to use the knowledge you acquire from your scriptural study for Kingdom purposes
· Ask God to ascribe to you the benefits of sonship from today and make it glaring for all eyes to see
