Focus: Jonah 2:1-2 - KJV
1. Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, 2. And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Psalm 120:1-7
A problem appears prevalent amongst men: when they run into error with the Lord, they lose the courage to call on Him believing that He would not respond because of the error. That simply happens because we do not really know the person of the Lord. All He seeks is that the sinner repents. Once there is repentance, there will be pardon. Those who refuse to repent are rebellious and cannot assume they can approach God in that state of mind. Jonah was initially in rebellion when he refused to go to the land where the Lord had sent him. He ran into trouble and was swallowed by a fish. Realizing himself, he repented and was able to properly call on the Lord even from the womb of the fish and God heard and delivered him. The love of God will not make Him abandon any repentant sinner in his time of need, if the repentance be genuine.
The Lord’s counsel to us today is that we should not be terrified of Him to the extent of suffering in silence. No matter what we may have done, if only we will genuinely repent and return to the way of the Lord, then will He hear us from whatever state we find ourselves in and come to our aid. Are you in some form of trouble because of disobedience? The Lord is not pleased that you be destroyed, rather, He wants to restore you to Himself in splendor as much as He wants. Just show Him love and affection by returning to Him from your prodigal ways and you will never regret.
SOLUTION: Always have a mind for God in all you do, no matter how far gone you assume you are from Him. His hands are wide open for you to come into His embrace, if you will. Just call unto Him and He will surprise you.
Please pray:
· Thank God for being always there for you, even when you do not know it, fighting and winning battles on your behalf
· Ask God to be merciful unto you for ignoring His instruction, like Jonah, which appears to have caused you some devastation
· Pray God to stretch forth His hand to rescue you from your present state so that you may breathe again an air of relief
· Pray that the Lord will make His assignment easier for you no matter the odds
· Open up to God, who knows before you ask, those things you are hitching to get but do not know how to go about it
