Focus: Colossians 4:2 - KJV
2. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Ephesians 6:18-20
It is by faith that one starts to give thanks for what he is yet to receive. And without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord. Hence, the Lord enjoins believers to watchfully pray and while doing so, even in the course of prayer, to give thanks already for what they pray concerning. This simply is asking the believer to gain credit ahead of the Lord, and as the Lord would owe no man, it is certain that what thanks is given concerning would soon manifest, if all things regarding efficacious prayers remain the same.
Christ Himself gave us example of giving thanks in prayer before seeing the performance. He gave thanks at the tomb of Lazarus before calling Lazarus forth at all. He gave thanks on the five loaves of bread and two fishes before breaking them at all. The Apostle Paul teaches us to make this our practice just so that like Christ, we may start to experience the joy of the Kingdom from this very earth. To do otherwise is to shed tears after praying as if God is deaf to hear our prayers or to keep on repeating the same request as if the prayer never ascended. Such actions only suggest to heaven that we lack faith in that which we seek of God.
Today, the Lord is inviting us to a better life in the Kingdom. For when we give thanks upon praying, we acknowledge that God is and that He will reward our requests of Him. Hence, from this very day, let us begin to give thanks to God and show Him that what we ask while we pray, we believe we have it already. Such faith moves God to performance. Please pray the will of God and not against it. It is against the mind of God to pray down fire from God to consume your neighbor under the assumption that the same is your enemy. What Christ says is that you love him and pray for them that despitefully use you. That simply is the will of God.
SOLUTION: Never end your prayer before giving thanks to God regarding that which you have petitioned God for. When you do so, you put God in a debtor situation. Only ensure that your prayer accords with the will of God and not against it.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for giving us access to Himself through prayers
· Pray that the Lord will always accede your requests when you pray
· Pray for the grace and fortitude to pray according to the will of God always by the help of the Holy Spirit and to appreciate God for your requests in advance
· Ask God to create by His Spirit an atmosphere for praying according to the will of God that many more may appreciate God in the place of prayer
· Ask for your daily bread today
