Focus: 2 Timothy 4:3-4 - KJV
3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Timothy 4:1-5
All the predictions in scripture concerning the end times glare us in the face. First, knowledge has increased so much that there is nothing that is secret anymore. It is now possible for treacherous people to listen in on discussion between a couple in their matrimonial home uninvited using special apps. Locational discovery per time is just one click away and there is no stress getting to see the actions at a location on a playback. Also, the river Euphrates is dried up and it appears the demons in the dungeon thereat have been released causing more havoc on earth than experienced in recent times. Men are now also lovers of themselves and not lovers of God. In fact, people now look for scriptures to support their evil deeds at every turn, to justify wickedness. And where they are not able to find a scripture because they do not ordinarily know scripture, they resort to philosophy. Now, all they seek is the ephemeral things of the world. Hence, whenever it appears they do not get teachers to promise them gains in such direction, they quickly shift base to the extent that preachers and teachers have noticed, and would rather get popular with the people, teaching only those things such wish to hear. In simple terms, people are now turned to fables, seeking correctness in those things that Christ does not approve. In their minds, those are unattainable: they are only heights which no man can attain in a lifetime. How so wrong.
Christianity is simply living according to the tenets of Christ. Any other thing is unacceptable. Christ’s messages are meant to guide to godliness. Even in the days of Abraham, God requested perfection. Our pursuit is to conform to the perfect law of the Lord. Hence, we cannot be brought to conform with teaching to fulfill the lusts of the people. No. rather, we, as watchmen are to teach the truth of God’s injunction to ensure the people move towards God’s mind of perfection. As believers, let us therefore never develop hitchy hears to the truth of the word of God; and let they that teach continue to teach the truth not minding whose ox is gourd. We are messengers of Christ and to Him alone should our allegiance be in the matters of the teaching of the word of God.
As the world is winding down, may the Lord preserve us to do His will continually, in Jesus’ name. No matter the antics of the devil, may we never be drawn into lust and craving for things of the flesh as against the spirit, in Jesus’ name. Every power wanting to draw men away from the truth in the word of God, please quash the same Lord, in Jesus’ name. Please send preachers of the truth into your vineyard the more and help them never to relent in their duties, in Jesus’ name. In the end, grant us the victory over lust and loss in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
