Focus: Proverbs 3:13-14 - KJV
13. Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
John 15:1-8
From experience, it is clear that no matter the quantum of money or gold given to a person that lacks wisdom, the same will be wholly squandered. Whereas, when a person is wise, he will make much gold/money without much ado. Christ is the power and the wisdom of God. He introduced Himself to us as the Vine while He called us the branches. For this purpose, let us therefore, say the fruits that hang on the branches are gold and silver. Jesus says, unless we abide in Him and we allow His word, which practically is Himself to dwell in us, we cannot bring forth much fruit. Fruits do fall to the ground and rot away; those that remain are plucked by passersby from time to time. The branch is able to bring forth more fruits if it remains hinged to the vine. Those that do not so remain, wither away and fall off, never to bear fruits again.
Unless we abide in wisdom which is in the word of God, whatever fruit we think we have will one day rot and be no more if not taken away by the world. Without wisdom, we can achieve nothing. It is possible to assume and argue that there are many who are not connected to Christ, who are thriving in the world. Such position is borne only out of lack of understanding. As we pursue wisdom, we need equally to get understanding, otherwise we will not appreciate what wisdom teaches. If we are true and keen observers, we will note that such people’s fruits are rotten from the beginning and do not stand the test of time in their circumstance.
Dearly beloved, the ability to attract much gold and silver is in wisdom. When Jacob became wise in Laban’s house, he made income for his twenty years sojourn just at once. Wisdom is better than gold. When we seek wisdom, gold seeks us. Look at those who are wise in the world, they are acclaimed the controllers of gold and silver because with their “wisdom” they seem to be proffering solution to worldly affairs. Problem is, they lack peace and rest. But Kingdom wisdom carries in it solution to every issue of life, and such wisdom is a gift or blessing without any form of sorrow added. The Lord is asking us to abide in Him as wisdom of God, so that we do not have to run after gold again, but have gold showing forth of its own accord.
SOLUTION: Bury yourself completely in the word of God, searching for the juice in it. As you search, get understanding through the ministry of the Holy Spirit for the letter killeth. Be mindful that the fruit that come as proceeds of your abiding is meant for passersby – give it to them for their nourishing that they may also return to seek the vine.
Please pray: Almighty God, help me to always get understanding from your word that I may remain a productive branch in your vine forever in Jesus’ name. Let the nutrient that flow from you through me never dry up, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Keep me bearing much fruit to the glory of your name, in Jesus’ name.
