Put On The New Man

Focus: Colossians 3:10 - KJV

10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Ephesians 4:17-24

The old man, as referred to in scripture is an allusion to the adamic nature which is the sinful nature man took out of the garden of Eden. This nature endears man to the works of the flesh perpetually to the intent and extent that there is nothing really pure or righteous that proceeds from the natural man. Hence, at a point in time, even the Lord Himself expressed regret that He made man observing that the thoughts of the degenerated man are desperately wicked. But the new man is the form of the risen Christ which is absolutely righteous and produces only the fruit of the Spirit such that nothing of the old man is discoverable in him. The new man is available to everyone in the old nature who is willing to yield to his creator by accepting the sacrifice of Christ, (the new man) such that, moving forward, he lives his life by Christ, the new man.

Unfortunately, the devil has deceived many that to receive the new man is by just the word of mouth without necessarily acting out the deeds of the new man by the help of the Holy Spirit who is made available upon the confession of Christ to the intent that the convert would yield thenceforth to the same Spirit. Hence, it is a common sight to observe people being called Christians and yet manifesting lasciviousness and unrighteous works with greed which are the traits of the old man. Not that we condemn them, but we are called to gently show them the folly in claiming to be believer and yet live after the old man.

Today, the Lord is asking us to be sure of whom we bear: whether it be the old man or the new man. If it be the new man, then we cannot be like other gentiles who are engaged in evil works, impure actions and wickedness of any kind. If indeed we have heard the teachings of Christ, of whom we have the new nature of the new man, then we ought to renew our minds and deliberately yield to the Holy Spirit by obeying His guidance and avoiding every work of iniquity and filth; allowing only righteousness and the Lord’s loving kindness to show through us.

SOLUTION: Being born again separates a believer from the old man ordinarily but the believer only remains so separated if he renews his mind upon putting on the new man by avoiding the influence of the old man which he had shed, and yielding to the teachings, commands and will of the new man whom he now bears.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for allowing you access to the new man and making you shed the old one

·      Ask God to please make old things truly pass away regarding your life and make all things truly new in accordance with His word, for being in Christ Jesus

·      Ask God to please create a permanent separation between you and the old man just like He separated between land and water in the beginning

·      Pray that every effect of the old man in your life be terminated forthwith by the mercy of God

·      Your daily bread will be good to ask for here.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
