Focus: John 16:13 - KJV
13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 14:6-17
When Christ had dealt with the obstacle called sin, it was expedient for Him to return to the Father so that the same Spirit that was made available to Him for the exploits that He did, would be made available to everyone that accepts the truth of His being and agrees to obey His commands. Hence, for every believer in Christ, as against the people of the world, the Holy Spirit is available, if we decide to abide in the righteousness which Christ has presented to us. The same righteousness is what is in the Father. Now, the Holy Spirit, like He was in Jesus Christ, showing Him what to do that were not inimical to the will of the Father, is now made available to those grafted into the vine. So, as against the time before Christ, like the time of Abraham, when to be righteous, men were instructed to walk before the Lord and heard from behind a voice telling them what way to go, upon the sacrifice of Christ, the sin that prevented the Holy Spirit from residing in man is taken away.
Invariably, the regenerated man now carries in himself the Holy Spirit, or is able to carry Him. No wonder it is written that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Wherefore, when we carry the Holy Spirit in us like Christ did, He teaches us all things and we are properly guided to operate in the will of God, always. When we abide in His leading, we are able to do the works that Christ did and even greater works. And ultimately, like Jesus Christ, because we are led by the Spirit of God, we are sons of God.
Beloved, if we carry in us the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, He will also quicken our mortal bodies and such things that could not limit Christ will not be able to limit us. More importantly, since the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in filthy vessel, He does not reside in anyone who is of the world; neither will He stay on in a vessel that is always attracting filth unto Himself. Growing up as a believer, a pastor testified to being knocked on the head with something that appeared like the bone flange of an angel’s wing for hugging a woman wrongfully. One can then imagine what happens with the believer that goes into filth fully in fornication, adultery, stealing etc. It is a good thing to have the Holy Spirit resident in us, but He can be grieved such that He vacates the filthy. Let us therefore, be grafted into Christ for the Holy Spirit to infill us, that we may do greater works and be different from the others.
SOLUTION: No man overcomes the world fully except with the help of the Holy Spirit. Let us therefore accept Christ as Lord and Savior, have the Holy Spirit dwell in us and live a holy life ever after. Then are we truly peculiar.
Please pray: Father, please come into my life by your Spirit and be resident there forever in Jesus’ name. Help me never to grieve your Spirit even as you build me up by the same Spirit to begin to do greater works than Christ did while on earth, in Jesus’ name.
