Repent And Live

Focus: Jeremiah 18:7-10 - KJV

7. At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; 8. If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. 9. And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; 10. If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

Ezekiel 18:21-32

Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does not change. Yet He is the God of today. He is so loving and caring that He does not want any to perish but to come to repentance and live. Hence, it does not matter the extent of evil a person had been in up until yesterday, if the same would come to the saving grace in Jesus Christ today, the Lord will forgive and forget all that he had done in the past and grant him life. But the converse is also true: if a person engaged in good deeds up until yesterday and begins to delve into iniquity today, the eyes of the Lord views him as an evildoer and all that he had been doing up till yesterday become immaterial in the scheme of things. The end of such is clearly damnation.

When Jesus was nailed to the cross, there were two thieves that were kept on His sides. The one, though he had been evil all his life, repented at the sight of Jesus and he got saved instantly, his past no longer being material. On the other hand, Judas Iscariot was an esteemed follower of Christ. He was at every crusade and outreach. But when the time was critical, his lust led him to forsake the Lord and he suffered great consequence. Only those who stayed steadfast to the end got saved. They were upright each day knowing that the Lord is a God of now!

The Lord is cautioning us that those who assume they stand should take heed lest they fall. The time of the Lord’s coming is imminent and only they that are upright at that moment shall be those to be taken up by Him. Let us therefore be sober and vigilant, redeeming the time because the days are evil. Let us repent now of all the evil that may be ascribed to us so that we receive forgiveness of the father and the embrace of the Son. Why should any perish?

Please receive this:

May the Lord forgive you of your past evil deeds and grant you a new lease of life on a clean slate in Jesus’ name. May the Lord grant you access unto Himself like He did for the right-hand thief, in the end of this life, in Jesus’ name. May you begin to enjoy the freshness of God in the ability to turn around to good deeds, in Jesus’ name. And may all the benefits ascribable to doing good be yours in Jesus’ name.

Please share. God bless you.
