Rest from God

Text: Proverbs 16:7

When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Bible Reading:

1 Kings 5:1-4

Message:

Life ordinarily is fraught with troubles. In every sphere, there are enemies. Even the members of one’s household are his primary enemies. It takes great grace to exist without having battles to face, persistently. However, the Bible confirms that the hearts of kings are in the hands of God and He has the capacity to turn the heart as he wishes. It follows that if anyone must experience rest from battles, he must endeavor to get God to turn the hearts of his enemies to his favor. God does not act in vain. For God to act in your behalf you must be sure to satisfy Him in righteousness. This is to say you must be ready to live a life of absolute obedience unto Him by walking before Him and being perfect. For anyone who achieves this, the same is to rest assured that the Lord will make his enemies to be at peace with him. Some assume it is impossible to live a perfect life. Yet it is possible. That is the reason Christ came and He has been our example. Everyone who lives by the Spirit will not fulfill the lust of the flesh which is the bane of men. Have you seen a man who is truly blessed? That is a man that has rest on all sides in that he lacks sorrow of any kind. You can also achieve the same. All that is needed is for your ways to be pleasing unto God. It doesn’t matter how you started. Solomon was not the heir apparent to the throne of David. His mother was a junior wife and one ‘betrothed’ in adultery and therefore should be less qualified. But as he ascended the throne, he did what pleased God and he had rest. You too can start to please God going forward that He may make your enemies to be at peace with you. Be resolute about it. Rest is sweet.

Prayer:

Father, please accord me rest on all sides by making my enemies to be at peace with me in Jesus name.
