Text: Philippians 3:3
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Read: Philippians 3:2-11
The flesh is the character of the old man that is innate in every man until he becomes born again. To be born again is to be born of the Spirit and of water. The characters that depict the flesh are majorly around three elements: lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. The ingredients are also set out in scripture in Galatians 5.
Whenever the flesh dwells in any individual, the same cannot please God in that God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. Anyone, in the flesh is not able to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in the real sense. Your supposed accomplishments in life that make you feel big is borne of the flesh. That position you occupy that make you look down at your friends is an incident of the flesh. The wealth you acquired that make you assume you can do things and get away with them is the flesh. Your academic prowess that will not allow you listen to the thoughts of others is the flesh. Many have gone before you who realized albeit late that the flesh profits nothing. No wonder Christ says if you cannot forsake father, mother, brothers, children and wife, you cannot be His disciple.
To be a top notch for Christ, you must be ready to shed everything called achievement and hold on to the cross. Like Paul, look at your past accomplishment as dung. Seek to know Christ the more to be able to live by His tenets. Once you are willing to do this, the Holy Spirit takes you over and you become led of Him. Therein lies your profiting as you are reckoned as a son of God.
Forget your qualifications and achievements that God may assign to you, greater success. There are many examples that glare you in the face that may have done so even within your generation and those before you. They have no regrets. Yield unto God and yours will be the next example for others to emulate.
Pray: Father, for the sake of your kingdom and reigning with you, I shed everything that pertains to the flesh in me. Let your Spirit take me over from now that I may start to exhibit the fruit thereof for all to see in Jesus name.
