Shun Anxiety; Trust God

Focus: Philippians 4:6 - KJV

6. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:4-7

In the world today, there are too many unbelieving believers who by their actions cast aspersion on the truth of the existence of God. They are easily anxious about things they lack the physical power to change, and which may not even exist. They are filled with the “what ifs” and thereby throwing doubt into their minds about the ability of God to do what He has promised to do. When it is announced that their employers are going through financial stress, their next thought is “what if we are retrenched?” and they start to panic for it. Meanwhile, God has never said He is no longer able to provide for our needs.

Anxiety is borne out of fear and fear is the direct opposite of faith, without which no man can please God. So, the position of the believer should be that when there is any issue at all, the same should be taken to the place of faith to conquer fear. Meanwhile, faith is engendered more in the place of prayer. Once we are sure of the one to whom we pray, we are strengthened in our minds as to His faithfulness. Hence, men ought always to pray and not to faint. A failure to pray may bring about torture over non-existent paradoxes.

The Lord wants us to realize that anything that would be, would be, without us being able to affect it in any way through our anxieties. Rather than being anxious therefore, it is better for us to submit the anxieties unto God in the place of prayer and leave Him to be the one to “worry” about them, while we free our minds to live a good life in Him.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for being my burden bearer in all the ages. I submit to you the current worries the enemy is throwing into my mind. I affirm that you are faithful and will neither leave nor forsake me. Therefore, please take away my anxieties and replace them with unflinching faith in you in Jesus’ name. Let your peace that passes all understanding reign in my heart, O Lord, in Jesus’ name. As I submit totally to you this day, let only your will, which is good to bring me to an expected end, be that which I will receive today, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
