State Of The Heart

Focus: Jeremiah 17:10 KJV: I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Read 1 Samuel 16:1-7
The heart of a man determines his person. As he thinks, so is he. When a man is wicked, even though he makes his tongue so sweet and flow like good wine or honey, his heart is full of daggers, spears, swords and even machine gun. Although man is yet to fully develop the art of finding the mind’s construction on the face, there is no thought that crosses the heart of any man that is not known to God. If the heart of a man be pure and without blemish, God sees it also. The beauty of this is that, the Righteous Judge is not going to base His judgment on the testimonies of onlookers, but mainly according to how his heart is moulded, whether for good, or for evil. No good heart yields evil deeds. Conversely, nothing really good is born out of an evil heart.
The prophet Samuel, with his human eyes, could not see the hearts of the sons of Jesse. He did not reckon with the saying that ‘they praise God with their lips but their hearts are far from Him.’ In his thoughts, he assumed he had found a replacement king, for Saul, in Eliab. By earthly credentials, Eliab qualified perfectly: soldier like Saul, huge stature like him, available always to follow Saul to his battles and so on. And of course, he was the real heir to the seat of Jesse, the man whose family God had appointed to produce the next king. But since God sees not like men, He had tried the reins of Eliab’s heart and indeed all the others and found them wanting, except David.
Without a pure heart none can ascend the hills of the Lord. It means without it, we can not please God. The thoughts we allow in our hearts can either purify them or defile them. Every thought that is not loving is a defiler of the heart. A heart that dwells on love will surely only practice love and there is no way the Lord can miss such heart, when He seeks those to bless. What is the state of your heart today? Are you still part of them that seek fire over their perceived enemies? Truth be told, such heart is of the wicked and only wickedness will manifest through such a person. Isn’t it true that the Lord’s command is to love the enemy and pray for those who despitefully use us? Please turn a new leaf today. Anything against the mind of God, and His command, is wicked.
Prayer:
My Lord and my God, I just thank you for the way you have sanctified my heart, transforming it from the heart of stone to that of flesh and receptacle of love. Help me never to allow my heart to be enmeshed in filth and wickedness again. Keep me pure through the purity of my heart to the very end. And when it is time to judge or pick your representatives here on earth, please let the purity of my heart speak for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Please share. God bless you.
