The Holy Day

Focus: Nehemiah 8:11 KJV: Nehemiah 8:11 - KJV
11. So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
Read: Nehemiah 8:9-12
It does not matter how so long a people have been oppressed under the fangs of the devil, the day they come to the realisation of the love of God, and surrender unto Him, is the day of their deliverance and salvation. Such a day should never be a day to mourn about past losses and pain. It should rather be seen in its real light as the day of the Lord, a holy day – the day when heaven comes down to place glory upon man by which the snare of the enemy is broken. A day to rejoice and celebrate salvation, as old things pass away and all things become new.
The people of Israel were in bondage in Babylon. Over time, they had forgotten the laws of the God of their father and therefore had gone living riotous lives, offending the Lord. The day the lost scrolls were discovered and the books were opened and read to them, they were struck in their consciences and they mourned for themselves and wept. Rather than weep, they were enjoined to change their countenances as the day was holy, when the Lord drew them to Himself. In the days of Elisha, there was great famine in Samaria. A day came when the Lord spoke through Elisha to bring prosperity within twenty-four hours. When the prophesy came to fulfilment, the people in bondage were just let loose without much ado. A day to rejoice and not to mourn.
Today, the Lord is saying if we will genuinely return to His word to obey and do according to its sayings, He would cut off the fangs of the wicked for our sakes, and make it a holy day, where our shame is removed and our lives renewed in hope and strength. He promises to restore our joy and by it, our strength. There will be no room for weeping or mourning. When He forgives, He does so totally. Have you been held captive in any way because of disobedience? Make today a holy day. Let us breakdown our hearts to accommodate the Lord now, so that He may turn our day to the holy day – a day that takes our shame, weeping, mourning and regrets away.
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the opportunity to retrace my steps because of your word. Help me to see the beauty of your holiness through your word so that I may never depart from your will again. As I surrender completely unto your will today, please break every power of darkness over my life and family. Restore unto me the joy of salvation as you renew right spirit in me. From this transformation, let this day be a holy day: a day of deliverance, salvation and therefore, joy; and let the euphoria of this new state of life never depart from me again, in Jesus’ name.
Please share. God bless you.
