Focus: Job 23:12 - KJV
12. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
John 4:32-34
Jesus Christ is the Lord’s example to us of how to excel in this world, and He made us to realize that He had no meal other than to do the will of the father and fulfil it. Of course, the will of the father is discernable from His word. Everyone that abides in the commands of God that proceeds out of His lips is bound to excel in this life. No matter what the enemy does to any such person, the Lord takes him through and gives him a happy ending. There is nothing more pleasing to the Lord than operating in His will, like Jesus Christ.
Job was a man who prided himself in the word of God to the extent that even God Himself gave a testimonial about him. When the devil decided to sift him like wheat and it appeared to his friends that he was suspect, he stood on his integrity and maintained that he had kept God’s words and commands without fail. In the end, the Lord restored him double fold on what the enemy had taken from him. Our Lord Jesus Christ also had a firm position about the father’s instruction to the extent that the father gave a testimonial about Him saying He is the beloved Son in whom He is well pleased. They both at different times pleased God and He testified to it.
The Lord is saying to us that we ought to stick with every word that proceeds out of the mouth of our God. Not necessarily what people say to us that God said, but what we know that He has said. Unless we so stay upon His word, we cannot be pleasing unto Him. Let us therefore be intentional in ensuring we hear from Him and obey everything He says without deviating therefrom. Then would He be pleased in and with us.
