Stop bragging

Text: 1 Samuel 2:3

Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

Read: Esther 5:9-13

Man born of a woman is of no special reputation. There is nothing anyone has or ever had in the real sense of things. For the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. No matter what you think you possess, it was never yours. It all belongs to God and He can reclaim it from you if He so decides.

Job had it all and lost it all. This did not diminish the stature of God. Some assume they had children, at the end of the day the children ended up being the source of their sorrow. Solomon had it all and loved pleasure, yet in the end he realized how vain all things are. So, for what is it that a man can brag or speak exceeding proudly? Position? Some had assumed because of the position they occupied that they would kill a foe by the morrow and never lived to see the morrow. It is only God that can say a thing and rest assured that it is done.

For Haman, Mordechai was an irritant because he refused to pay obeisance to him when he passed, being the king’s lieutenant. But one who knows the intents of the heart first humiliated Haman by making him the first servant to the one he despised and then replacing Mordechai on the death instrument he had prepared for him.

The Lord’s counsel is touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. Incidentally, He never specified what would happen to those who err concerning it. All He made known is that He rebukes kings for their sakes. Meaning, He is at liberty to deal as He pleases if you touch His anointed. Now, anointing is not written on the forehead. Only God knows His anointed. Don’t therefore oppress anyone for you may be touching God’s anointed and standing against God.

Know, for all intents and purposes that you are nothing without God and be careful not to offend Him. If you have been misbehaving in this before now, kindly repent and seek the face of the Lord and He will surely restore you. The fact that you are still standing is for His longsuffering and not slackness in dealing with the wicked.

Pray: Father, I know I am nothing without you. Please keep me in you that I may always do things pleasing unto you in humility in Jesus Mighty name.
