Focus: Romans 2:24 - KJV
24. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
2 Samuel 12:1-14
On this forum, we have said so much about the leaders of the faith, but those things said are directed at all of us that are in the faith because everyone is a potential leader thereof, if not one currently. This is why it is said that we must be holy that bear the vessels of the Lord. The moment a person starts to identify with God, he carries a very high responsibility to watch his ways and ensure that he does not bring the Lord’s name into disrepute. God is not honored when any of His children is found in things that do not conform to His “DNA”. God is holy. Every child of His must also be holy. If otherwise, then there is bastardy somewhere. David was identified as someone who was dear and close to God. In his affair with Saul, it was clear to observers that God had preference for David over Saul. But no sooner had David attained the throne, he started to forget his consecration unto God and began to lust after another man’s wife. His lust led him to sin which sin got so bad in that it led to murder. When God came through to challenge him of his misdeeds, He was very clear to tell David that his actions had caused the name of the Lord to be blasphemed amongst the gentiles.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Every sin that we commit is forgivable, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, the Word says it shall not be forgiven. And again, to whom much is given, much is desired. It is better not to have known and tasted God than to know Him and cause His name to be blasphemed. There are people today who though are Christians, do not mind to steal, kill and or destroy. It is a strong point to find a Christian getting involved in fraud, kidnapping, ritual killings, cyber fraud and all manner of things. When the fact is made known, people start to say things about God whom such people profess. God does not take kindly to such. David assumed what he did was secret and covered forever not knowing that everything was plain before God. How could it have been secret anyway, when the killing of Urriah was carried out through the manipulation of another for David? If he had done the killing directly, God still sees – remember Cain and Abel. For us to be true to our calling in God, we must abstain from bringing His name to disrepute as whatever we do is referenced to Him.
Father, we are sorry for dragging your name in the mud in times past; please forgive us Lord in Jesus’ name. In all our lives, please help us to be straight with you so that we may continue in your favor and love in Jesus’ name. Please do not let our lusts and undue appetite pitch us against you in any way, in Jesus’ name. We vouch to be on your side to the end: please help us to remain your worthy ambassadors to the end, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: Do not misrepresent God with your sinful acts. People are watching and whatever you are found doing is linked with God. Therefore, do only godly things whether secretly or openly.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
