15. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

Numbers 11:31-34

God can supply all that we need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. When we become gloomy and begin to murmur against God for particular happenings in our lives, we send a vote of no confidence unto our God, and He is never happy to receive the same. It was not God but Satan that afflicted Job when his fortunes changed. Hence, it is never God that afflicts us to cause our downturn at any time. Rather, like He preserved Job, He is the one who shields us. God took Israel out of Egypt and fed them without them having to farm or cook. Yet, they were full of murmurings and gloomy complaints rather than showing gratitude. By reason of their actions, even though God gave them what they desired, He allowed them to be further plagued by the enemy since a vote of no confidence in God is an invitation to the lordship of Satan.

Today, the Lord is saying He sees and hears all that we are putting before Him. Even as He is willing to give us our requests, He is not happy that we place the blame of our circumstance at His doorstep. He will rather we look to Him for rescue noting that whatever we pass through is not His making but ours or, at best, the enemy’s. The murmurings can only make things worse and not better. If the Lord decides to leave us to the enemy, there can only be greater devastation. Hence, what the Lord seeks from us is repentance and a cry for mercy. Then are we remorseful and looking to Him for help.

SOLUTION: Let us desist from murmurings and grumblings, but approach the Lord for mercy in repentance from our evil ways. Life is not just about meat and drinks. Yes, things may appear to be out of reach for us, but they all are within God’s reach to give to us. Let us curry His mercy and not wrath.

Please pray:

·      Thank God for you know that in all of the things happening to and around you, you still have Him in control

·      Tell the Lord to please forgive you and everyone else of our misdeeds that brought famine to being in our time

·      Ask that the Lord would show us mercy and not allow us to be dissolved under the yoke of the current famine and attendant hardship

·      Pray God to change the circumstance we are experiencing, like He did in Samaria in the time of Elisha

·      Tell God specific things you would love to see changed in your life and affairs

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
