7. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:6-9
Happy New Year. As we begin the new year today, may the Lord make it a year full of blessings devoid of sorrow, in Jesus’ name. The mind of God is to have us in close contact and fellowship with Himself, so that darkness will not have any inroad unto us as the year progresses. One of the very vital cautions is that in this year, we must conduct ourselves in total humility unto God so that He may lift us up. As God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, everyone that will acknowledge God as their God will surely enjoy the benefits of God. As a corollary, that person will also be fully equipped to effectively resist the devil to make him flee. The truth is, God is light and the devil is the prince of darkness. As the light shines in darkness and darkness does not comprehend it, those who submit to God enter into His light, and by so doing, resist darkness where the devil resides.
It is clear that no one sees either God or the devil; but we are able to see the representatives of both sides glaringly. So, one of the ways to submit to God is to hearken to His word, as it is written and preached in truth. There are people who arrogate to themselves the position of being the intermediary between God and men. Of such people we need to beware so as not to be drawn into darkness and their folly. This year, let us beware of the devil’s booby traps to draw us into darkness by taking us into captivity through wrong doctrines not backed by Christ. Do not as preachers vent reactionary angst against statements made by others or say some other will go to hell. That is not the ministry of reconciliation. It is akin to the ministry of the devil which is to steal to kill and to destroy. We need to be very careful this year. Such angst is about feeding the supposed flock of God with poisonous legumes, as against green pasture.
As we submit ourselves unto our God from today, may the Lord by His power elevate each one of us from the levels where we were at the end of the past year, in Jesus’ name. By the power in the blood of Jesus, every poison ingested from altars occupied by satanic agents, are neutralized from now, in Jesus’ name. In this year, every plan of the devil over any one of us shall never stand in Jesus’ name. And because it is the plan of God to bring us to an expected end in goodness, by the time the year is over, we shall be alive, well and praising God in the mighty name of Jesus. We pray for those who have submitted themselves to the use of the devil to serve poison on the people of God that the Lord will show them mercy so that they do not become a shipwreck after asserting so much as if for the kingdom, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: There is no middle way. When submitting to God, we must submit fully. Putting up a face as if of God and going ahead to fulfil the will of the enemy cannot be a submission to God. Submission is doing the will of God alone, fully. Nothing else.
