7. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

Sin is a ripper of destinies in that it separates between God and man. Anyone who appreciates the beauty that flows from being joined to God, will never want to be disconnected from God, as without Him, there is not much we can achieve against the agents of darkness. In actual fact, those who have spiritual sight will tell us how a person without God is enmeshed in darkness and is horribly ugly to behold. The Lord Jesus Christ in His earthly sojourn understood vividly what it is to be a God carrier. As a God carrier, darkness bows at your appearing, demons respond to your commands, angels are at your beck and call for assistance and support, where necessary, and so on and so forth. This was what Christ was confronted with when it was time to take the sin of man to the cross. It meant then that He was to appear horrible and ugly such that the father with whom He is tangled could not look at Him, talk-less of being with Him. Hence, He pleaded to have the cup pass, as separation from God means forfeiting all heavenly privileges.
Prior to going to the cross, whenever Jesus spoke, it was done. He needed not speak much to pray to raise Lazarus who was said to already be decaying and stinking. But when He was bearing the sin of man to take to the cross, He prayed with tears and blood sweat but got no answer. The Son of God got separated from the father because of sin. If God would forsake Jesus for Him to pray saying Eli, Eli, Lama sabachtani, agonizing for being abandoned, it goes to tell us that where sin is found, God is separated and the sinner is abandoned. Not only was Christ deserted by the forces in heaven, even His earthly acquaintances left Him to Himself. This is not to say that when the world deserts you it is because you are a sinner; but more often than not, when heaven deserts, the consequences are gruesome in that the satanic world has no love to offer any man, or at all. So, when sin is allowed in our bodies, fear takes over our minds as we become exposed to the enemy, and thereby vulnerable to all manner of evil attacks.
The Lord’s guidance for us today is to run completely from sin. When we sin, we are like a jackass that fails to obey its owner and is flogged mercilessly so that it may toe the line. Remember the story of Balaam’s donkey: the poor thing saw death ahead to which its master was blind and therefore halted to turn aside severally, only for the blind master who was the greater jackass to whip it badly until the poor thing found a voice to speak and was responded to by the master as if the situation was a normal one. The devil weeps the sinner silly like Balaam did his ass, even though he himself is a greater jackass for being the chief disobedient being ever. Sinners are beasts of burden under the devil. He keeps them in agony and pain from time to time and when he is fed up with them, he gives them to death. If we must not experience such ordeal at all or again, then we must ensure we are in constant fellowship with the Holy One of Israel, our God, provider, defender, helper, sustainer and lifter up of our heads; indeed, our all in all.
SOLUTION: The way to avoid agony is to dwell in righteousness. Doing that is living within the bounds of God’s commands. There is no other way to avoid the agony of sin than not to sin. Say no to sin and see the beauty of the Lord.

Thank you, Lord for the opportunity to be in communion with you away from the bondage of sin. I crave to remain in your love dear father; please keep me engrafted in the palm of your hand, in Jesus’ name. Every effect of sin mesmerizing my life, I put at the foot of the cross today, please separate me from them by reason of the blood of Jesus’ Christ. Let me only begin to experience the beauty of holiness in you so that I may have dominion on earth, going forward, to the glory of your name, in Jesus’ name. Let this day deliver to me the dews of heaven that I may drink the milk of the gentiles and suck the breast of kings in Jesus’ name.
