Focus: Deuteronomy 7:9 - KJV
9. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Deuteronomy 4:35-39
Our God is all powerful: when He speaks, it is done. All He had to do when the earth was void and without form was to call forth light and it happened. He told Abraham He had a gift of a piece of land for him, and He ensured he got it. By the time Abraham received the promise, it is akin to having the Certificate of Occupancy, but yet to take possession. Every other covenant He got into, He fulfilled to the letter. Ordinarily, it is not feasible for a virgin to bring forth a child, but once God covenanted it, He got it fulfilled. Hence, it does not matter how difficult a promise from God may appear, with God, all things are possible and therefore, the promise must be and shall be kept by Him.
It is possible for fulfilment of covenant to be delayed because of God’s goodness. For instance, although the Lord had covenanted the land of Canaan to Abraham, the land was occupied and “owned” at the time by the Amorites. Meanwhile, God delayed the possession of the land by Abraham’s descendants because, according to the Bible, the iniquity of the Amorites was yet to be full. And since God is righteous and wants to be seen as just, He allowed them to exhaust their options before leaving and causing them to be ejected. That was also the case with king Saul, even though he had been rejected as king. It is also possible that the beneficiary of the covenant has some lessons to learn in prudence, godliness or leadership. That was the case with Joseph and his dad, Jacob. Nonetheless, delay is never denial, unless of course, if the recipient disconnects from the Lord totally.
Is there a promise of God hanging upon your life or destiny that appear delayed? There is good news for you today: the covenant keeper has arisen to fulfil His part now. Indeed, the iniquity of the usurper is already overflown and the Lord can no longer stick him, just like He got fed up with Saul. All you need to ensure, like Joseph, is that you please stay connected unto the Lord Jesus Christ; for no branch exists without the vine – a branch has no capacity to hang in the air and bear fruit except it is hinged to the tree and take nutrients therefrom. In the same vein, without Christ, we are nothing. Hence, for the disconnected branch, the vine is not able to fulfil the promise of constant supply of nutrients. Please stay connected to Christ. The fulfilment is on the way.
SOLUTION: Let nothing separate you from the love of Christ. No matter what the enemy does to dissuade you from continuing in Christ, please never give in. Let the word of God dwell in you richly. As you abide in Christ, it is through the rhema that He abides in you.
Please pray: Dear father, I have waited thus far for the fulfilment of your promises in my life (list them if you can recall); I know you are a covenant keeper: you have never failed before and therefore, you will not fail me. Please remember me today and bring these promises of yours to fulfilment in my life now, in Jesus’ name.
