The Dead Cannot Praise God

Focus: Psalms 115:17-18 - KJV

17. The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. 18. But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.

Isaiah 38:1-5

Death is a final position for any man. When a man dies, he is no longer able, at least physically, to shout praises or give adoration to God or anyone. Meanwhile, God appreciates to be praised and that is why the Bible says, He inhabits the praises of Israel.

It follows that, it is not the joy of God for anyone to die, particularly those who offer Him praises from time to time. It therefore, becomes baffling to see God’s praise singers dying at tender ages. It must be that something has happened to cause such death, without it being the real will of God.

To buttress the foregoing is the example of Hezekiah. As a king, Hezekiah became ill and from all indications, he was going to die. Therefore, the Lord sent a prophet to tell him to put his house in order so that he would not die unsung. Hezekiah was surprised that such a message would be sent to him and therefore went to God to show a cause why he should not be allowed to die so prematurely. One of the things he presented was the fact that he was a stickler for praising God, particularly with his offerings. Alas, the Lord preferred to have Hezekiah live and continue to praise Him rather than die and not be able to. Hezekiah got additional fifteen years.

Beloved, God has no joy in your dying prematurely. Hence, if there be anything pointing towards such occurrence, show God a laudable cause why He must arise for you to ward off the spirit of death. Show God how so much a praise singer you are and how the same will be truncated if the evil spirit is allowed to win. Oh! You have no praise account to draw from? It is indeed a pity but it is not totally bad. You can tell the Lord if He sends the evil spirit away from you, the rest of your life will be dedicated to praising Him. Rest assured, whatever He has done before, He can do again, and therefore, since He did it for Hezekiah, He can do it for anyone else.

SOLUTION: Be involved in praising God regularly. Let heaven recognize you with it. Put death to shame by calling on the One who has the power to stop it from messing you up. You are entitled to live long and attain at least a hundred and twenty years.
