The King is Born

Focus: Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Luke 2:1-14

It is Christmas day! Merry Christmas beloved. May the blessings of God multiply unto each and every one of us in the name of Jesus Christ. As we may know, Christmas is a major celebration in many countries all over the world. The celebration is done every year to commemorate the birth unto earth of the Son of God who came to take away the sin of the world. However, even though many do things to show they are in celebratory mood, they do not really have a full grasp of the essence of the celebration and the effect is lost on them. The essence of the birth of Christ is to affirm a change of governance from the power of darkness to the Son of Man who shall perform wonders and through whom wonders shall be performed; who shall give comforting counsel in trouble situations to guide out of trouble; who by His conception and origin is God incarnate and is One with the Almighty Father as well as being the restorer of peace in the troubled waters of the earth. All these He has actualized and are still in operation on earth even centuries after He physically departed the earth. They are things that are forever settled and the commemoration of His birth are only to remind us of the fact that God in His mercy brought this into being for us.

Although we go about wining and dining in celebration, some still find occasion to commit sin and iniquity on such a day of glorious commemoration. It is meant to be a day when we ought to reflect and rejoice for having been ransomed from our sin by such an act of love of God coming to earth in the form of man to die for our sin. It cannot therefore be right that any will have thoughts about sin on such a day or any day near it or at all, for that matter. To appreciate the goodness of God, we ought to proclaim the good works which the day represents, to those who are yet to have an appreciation of it that the birth of the Lord may not be vain over their lives. It is a day that is observed only once in a year and therefore we should make the best use of it to show Christ we love Him for coming for our sakes and that we are committed to obeying His command in loving every man that we may come across.

SOLUTION: On this very day, why not look for someone in need of help, succour or comfort and do the best you can to show the same that he/she is loved not only of God but also by you. Give reassuring gifts and show the world that Christ, the reason for the season, still cares for them.

In this yuletide season, may the Lord present you with the best of gifts that will make your worries a thing of the past in Jesus name. Happy Celebration.
