21. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
John 3:17-21
When God decided to ransom man from sin and destruction, He made a virgin pregnant and told her that the thing in her was a holy thing. This holy thing became the son of man as messenger of God. Aside this, the Lord further acclaimed that those who receive and believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life; but those who do not, are condemned already. Now, when Jesus, the “holy thing” was done with His assignment, He appointed others after Him, to continue as messengers in His stead saying that as He was sent, so also, they are. This suggests that like Christ was holy, every disciple and messenger in His stead is presumed holy too; and as Christ was the mouthpiece of the Father, so is every disciple. Hence, everyone that must bear the message of the Kingdom must have the attributes of Christ or simply put, must be Christ-like.
For the immediate disciples who witnessed the person and ministry of Christ, these attributes were not lost on them as even men testified to their Christ-likeness and thus called them Christians. Aside being observed in holiness in acts and speeches, they were also found performing miracles as well as casting out devils, just like Christ did and therefore they became worthy ambassadors of the Kingdom. Today, not many who claim to be messengers can be adjudged holy or Christ-like in anyway. If they are not in pursuit of money, they are of position or worldly power and recognition. For as long as the attributes of Christ are not in them, they fall short of being the messengers of the Kingdom and one begins to wonder the essence of their pursuit.
Beloved, the Lord is calling us to stand out in our Kingdom pursuit. Whatever is not identifiable with Christ should not be found in us. We, like Christ must be holy. Holiness in all spheres of our lives whether public, private or secret. Some are seen as holy in the public but not in their private lives. It will surprise many that supposed disciples are spouse abusers in their private lives. We are not only to be holy in public and private life but also in secret life. If we x-ray the thoughts of many, we will discover that it is impossible for the Holy Spirit to dwell in such filthy mind/environment. Meanwhile, God sees and discerns all thoughts. As our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, such body should not hold evil thoughts. Are you really a messenger Christ has sent like God sent Him? Then show forth the attributes of Him who has sent you, forthwith.
SOLUTION: Be holy in all your doings and project always the attributes of Christ. Let no filth be found in you ever again. Then can the world see and recognize Christ in you.
Please pray: Father, strengthen me for the task of being your messenger by expunging from me whatever works against my Christ-likeness from today, in Jesus’ name. Let your glory shine upon my life like it did upon Jesus that the world may see and know that indeed, I have also been with Jesus, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
