Focus: Luke 10:41-42 - KJV
41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:38-42
The ministry of the word is something very precious unto God for no man can be free from the bondage of the devil except through the instrumentality of the word of God. The word is so potent a weapon that it is said to be sharper than any two-edged sword; unlike the physical sword that injures to kill, the word wounds the destructive tendencies sown by the devil into the heart of men, and leaves the soul of the man better enriched in the knowledge of the person of the Most-High. It is settled that the prosperity and the health of a man is proportionate to the prosperity of the soul, if the prosperity must be divine and not manipulative. Hence, to prevent the soul from prospering, the evil one goes to ensure that the word does not find root in the heart of the hearer, or prevents the hearing thereof. For it is the truth that we hear that sets us free.
Unfortunately, today, like Martha, many are cumbered with the ministry of errands and non-glorifying “care” which they prefer to the ministry of the word. Meanwhile, salvation is in the word of God for there is no obeying what we do not know and every disobedience is disobedience that must be accounted for. Mary sought to know the word; Martha sought to abdicate the word for the care. It is not that the ministry of care is evil; but it can never be a replacement for the ministry of the word. No one can get to the father except through the Word. For without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord; and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word. Those who abdicate the ministry of the word for other things are cumbered for nothing. There is need for mankind to seek the undiluted teaching of the truth that is in the word. No! Not motivational teaching and other fleshly driven talks; but spirit filled inspirational messages.
The Lord is frowning at man’s pursuit of unnecessary things. In churches today, the topical advertisements appear to direct the minds of people to lustful matters rather than the bread of life. Many run to such gatherings in search of miracles as well as blessings, and rather than get fed with the Word of God which is divine and leads them to moments with God via repentance, they get lured away into supposed fulfilment of their lusts. God is not served in this. Are you a preacher and you are constantly luring men to your gatherings by lustful baits? Please seek the word of God and feed them with it instead. Are you someone who needs help in any facet of life? Seek the undiluted word of God and you will find the solution to your issues in it, for therein lies life. The hearing and knowledge of the word that lead to faith is what we need.
SOLUTION: Seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness is founded on seeking the word and operating in it. Unless we know the word and operate in it, all these things which ordinarily are needless, cannot be added to us. If we do otherwise, like Martha, we will just get unduly cumbered with many things.
Please pray: Father, I do not want to live in a rigmarole; let your word find receptacle in my heart that I may have understanding of you better than those who have gone before, in Jesus’ name. Please let my life radiate and reflect the truism in your word to others at all times, in Jesus’ name. And in all, do not let me loose that which I gain from your word, ever, in Jesus’ name.
