Focus: John 4:13-14 - KJV
13. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Genesis 21:9-19
Hagar, Sarah’s maid was a woman of destiny but she had no understanding. At a time in her life, because she became pregnant by her master, she became non-submissive in the house and out of fear of Sarah, escaped from the household where destiny was waiting for her. God restored her through the ministration of an angel. When she had her son, she did not teach him to be submissive and the same was caught mocking and thereby got banished from the home. In the course of their journey, Hagar and Ishmael exhausted the water that Abram gave them and they were so weak that it appeared Ishmael would die. Alas, God showed up and revealed a new well of water that gave them succor and made Ishmael to live to become nations today.
Many today, are like Ishmael in the wilderness: they have no source of water as the water which is the word of God is scarce and what is being served on many altars and pulpits today can best be described as murky waters which tend not to life. There is however, the water that the Lord gives: it does not only bring the required succor in the midst of the troubles of life, but it is also everlasting in the drinker for strength, value and well-being until God be glorified in him. That water is available in the teachings and life of our Lord Jesus Christ. As many as will partake of this water shall not only be revived, they shall also live life by it until they meet with the Lord in eternity, never to be tasty again.
The solution to that nagging thirst that brings faintness in our lives is embedded in the water of life that the Lord Jesus Christ is pointing us to. There are waters and there are waters. The waters offered by the fathers, like Abram offered Hagar and Ishmael, will cause us to thirst again and still be wary and faint. If, however, we settle for the water the Lord is revealing unto us, then shall we be truly revived to live to fulfill destiny, never to thirst again. Therefore, rise up and drink from the well which the Lord is showing to you: drink pure water from the undiluted word of God as against the doctrine of the fathers.
SOLUTION: The knowledge of God and His works is in His word. Unless we get to the true knowledge of the word, we cannot claim to know Him. When we do know Him, we have enough water for our journeys in life. Seek now the undiluted word of God that quenches thirsts truly, and stop settling for murky waters that poison and make wary.
Please pray: Father, do open my eyes to see the well where the water of life dwells, that I may receive succor from the hardness of the world, in the name of Jesus. Help me to fulfill destiny by your well of living waters, in Jesus’ name.
