Focus: Luke 4:22 - KJV
22. And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
John 4:7-29
Anyone that carries the word of God in himself, has the tendency to become a wonder to his world. In ordinary parlance, Jesus was the son of Joseph, a mere carpenter. However, He started to become noticed when He began to use the gracious word of God in His daily affairs and men began to wonder how such great wisdom got into Him, for the word of God is wisdom. There was a man called Nathaniel who was invited by Philip to meet the Lord who came out of Nazareth. The immediate response of Nath was ‘can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ But after listening to the grace that proceeded out of the mouth of Jesus, not just Him saying Nath was an Israeli in whom there was no guile, but indeed the word of grace that proceeded from Him, He succumbed that He was the Christ. The case of the woman by the well of Jacob is not so different. Jesus told her things He ought not to have known and then expounded the word of God. To her, Jesus became a wonder and she herself received transformation such that she took on the garb of an evangelist.
The word of God is so powerful that it transforms the one who bears it. Look at Peter the ordinary fisherman who was timid and scared when Jesus was going through trial, to deny Him three times. When he found the word and released it from his mouth, he became the wonder of the moment to the extent that through the word he released, about three thousand people were convicted and added to the Church. Those who have the word in them but refuse to put it to use miss the opportunity of manifesting wonders. It does not matter how terrible a situation may be in the world, when the word of God is released like a hammer, it shatters the problem and gives a solution. He who bears it becomes a wonder. So beautiful are the feet of them that bring good news on the mountain and publish peace; they bring good tidings that publish salvation and says unto believers: your God reigns. That is the word of God and it brings out wonders in the carrier.
We also have the opportunity to become wonders to our generation if we will internalize, live by, and spread the word of God, like Jesus Christ did. God is not a respecter of persons. He stands by His principles at all times to assert that He is not a liar. Hence, if we will do the needful, very soon, the whole world will hear us and marvel. Refusal to speak is submission to timidity and failure, like Peter, in the critical time. The time to stand up and speak the word of God to power is now.
SOLUTION: In season or out of season, preach the Gospel for it is a curse upon someone who has been saved through the preaching of others to fail to preach to some others too. May we never be accursed in Jesus’ name.
Please pray: Father, please grant me the boldness never to keep quiet when I am supposed to preach your word, in Jesus’ name. Let your word that proceeds graciously out of my mouth from time to time turn me into a wonder indeed, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
