1. Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, 2. And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Jonah 2:1-10
Our God is not evil and there is no evil found in Him even though no being can cause a strand of hair to fall from the head of His being without Him knowing. However, when men refuse to submit to the will of God, the Lord releases them to the consequences of their folly. Nonetheless, if a man errs in refusing to submit unto God, finds himself in the circumstance that is not good as a consequence of his action, and decides to return to God by fully submitting in his heart and crying unto God for ransom, no matter how terrible the situation may be, if he is genuine in his plea, the Lord will hear and rescue the same from his horrible pit situation.
Jonah was a man whom God loved and sent to Nineveh to warn them of the consequences of their misbehavior as a people. In the mind of Jonah, the concerned people deserved to be judged and condemned and so, he refused to be God’s messenger to the said people. Rather than go to them he opted to go in another direction. As God withdrew from his affairs, he entered into turbulence on his chosen journey, got thrown into the drink and ended up in the tommy of a large fish. Since his new abode was full of discomfort, he renewed his mind and decided he would obey God, cried to Him from the belly of the fish and God came to his rescue.
There are many today who have refused to submit their will to that of God and are currently finding life rather tough and unpalatable. It is not a circumstance God intended for them but their disobedience brought them to it. If they will renew their minds concerning the will of God to submit themselves fully to it, the Lord is also willing and ready to partner with them in the assignment first, to ransom them and then to fortify them against all enemy actions.
SOLUTION: When we submit ourselves fully unto the Lord, then are we able to effectively resist the devil and he will surely flee from us. So, please submit fully to God today. Half obedience is disobedience still.
Please pray:
· Thank God for His faithfulness in ensuring you are shielded always from the enemy’s actions
· Thank God for finding ways to chastise you so that you may be corrected to operate within His will
· Ask God to please forgive you for ever veering out of His will, and ask Him to please restore you by His mercy today
· Ask God to please bring you back on course by Himself that you may continue to operate in the joy of salvation
· Ask for your daily bread today
