Focus: Jeremiah 17:7-8 - KJV
7. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Colossians 1:26-28
Merry Christmas beloved. May this season bring to us all blessings untold that will make people from all over the world to confirm that our God is good to us in Jesus’ name.
It is Christmas day. Hallelujah! When the angel that announced that Christ was about to be born made his announcement, he did say the purpose of His birth which is to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). The importance of this may be lost on us if care is not taken. Sin is the root cause of toiling and laboring without much to show. But when sin is dealt with and taken away, the pure becomes blessed such that he becomes like a tree planted by the riverside, always blossomy. Its source of nutrients is never dried. No matter the change in the weather or atmospheric condition, such a person still blossoms. Even when everyone else is crying casting down, he is always experiencing a lifting. That precisely is what the coming of the Lord is meant to bring to mankind. But are we really experiencing this? It does not appear so in a broad sense. For us to get it right, we must put our trust in the Lord that was born to take away our sins and hope absolutely in Him to see us through all the downside that the effect of sin brought upon man. Hence, the Christmas is not a season to dwell in lust or get carried away with merriment. Rather it is a time to reflect on His purpose and where we stand in it. We should consciously put our trust in Him by believing His words and acting on them. And like He promised to come back for us, we should put our hope in that promise to continue to do good as He has instructed. It is then that the Christ in us shall affirm the hope of glory for us to blossom.
Beloved, please use this day to reflect on your relationship with the one that was born to give you the renewed hope to rule and reign over sin, principalities and powers and has made provision for you to blossom on earth and even hereafter. Life as you know it can be better. It only takes you trusting the Lord the more and placing your hope in Him. As you celebrate Christmas, think of those who are not able to celebrate for lack or some other misfortune. Make effort to reach out to some as much as you can and the Lord will be glorified for your sake. Felis Navidad!
SOLUTION: Put your trust in the Lord by first taking it out of those other places – man, your intellect etc. Let God be the determiner of your ways from now on. Let not the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ be in vain over your life. Celebrating Christmas without being obedient to God is a waste of time.
Father, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to be alive on another Christmas day. Please don’t let the effect of your coming to earth be lost on anyone of us in Jesus’ name. As we celebrate today, let our trust never be in any other being but you in Jesus’ name. And, by reason of that which you have done for us, let our lives start to blossom for all to see in the name of Jesus Christ. When it shall be Christmas in 2023, let all mouths testify that indeed the Lord has done great things for us in Jesus’ name.
