Turn Away From Evil

ree

Focus: Psalms 119:101 - KJV

101. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

Proverbs 1:10-16

There are people in the world who are evil personified. Like the devil who they serve, they do not keep their evil ways to themselves but keep looking for others to recruit into their wickedness. Unless we watch our ways carefully and guardedly, it is easy to fall into their lies and traps believing that they are genuine. They have a means of sweet talking and convincing many into gullibility and thereby making them partakers of the evil. But there is nothing glorious that results from evil deeds. It brings great repercussions and pain to the evildoers themselves in the end. While engaging in it, they appear to be on top of the world, but their ending is almost always invariably miserable. Those who keep the word of God, abstain from evil in all of their ways.

Jeroboam was made king over Israel when the kingdom was divided into two out of the hands of David’s generation. He was evil personified in that because of his ambition not to lose the throne, he barred Israel from going to Jerusalem as it was their practice to serve their God. He rather recruited them into his evil ways by building altars to fake gods and made them to worship at such altars. Queen Jezebel was not different. She drew her husband into her wickedness and caused Israel to sin against God as a result of which there was a draught in the land for three and a half years. She concocted so much evil and enrolled many others into it with herself, thereby creating an army of evildoers in Israel.

The antidote to doing evil is to refuse to walk in the ways of the evildoers by keeping the word of God. It is not difficult to decipher the good from the evil. The test is whether Christ would approve of that very act. Once it is clear He would not support it, please flee from it. No matter the level of the personality/personalities involved, we are to eschew evil by fleeing from every semblance of it. If we flee from evil, God will receive us. Those who refuse to flee and continue to walk in the evil ways, would have their paths darkened and slippery. God has no part in them. Everyone that refuses God in himself is doomed unto calamity sooner or later, for God is the one that loves us, the enemy only sets out to destroy. The absence of God is an opening for the enemy and we do not want to allow that for ourselves, at all.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for locating me in yourself and dwelling in me. Whatever will cause a separation between you and I, please let it never happen, in Jesus’ name. Help to keep my feet far away from the paths of the evil one for the rest of my life, in Jesus’ name. Please draw me out of anything that appears like evil that I may have been drawn into in times past in Jesus’ name. Let me never be a recruiter of men to do evil, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
