Focus: Genesis 39:10 - KJV
10. And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
Proverbs 1:10
The devil has many ways by which he gets man into trouble with God. Anyone who fails to live by the injunctions of God is entrapped, through sin, into destruction. Sin, as we know, is a challenge to God’s authority. And like we found yesterday, any evil deed is a seed of the devil and sinful in the sight of God. The devil being the chief evil doer, tried to lure Christ, being the Chief righteous being, to sin, just if only He would so much as speak vile or avenge Himself when he was being bourgeoned by His creatures. The fact that He already said that the prince of this world comes but has nothing of his in Him, confirms the absence of evil seed in Him. It would have been highly revealing to see seeds of evil manifest through vengeance or evil resistant actions. That is the height the enemy can go to. In the minds of some, sin is sweet, particularly when it has to do with sexual immorality. But for everyone that carries the seed of righteousness, like Joseph, they know that it is a trap to cause them to manifest evil and thereby be pitched against God, their lover. Had Joseph yielded to Potiphar’s wife, he would have had momentary ill-pleasure but would have ruined his destiny by causing a separation between himself and his God who had the best prepared, and waiting for him.
The wiseman counsels us that if sinners entice us, we should not yield. That is why he is the wise one. He knew that there is nothing juicy in sin. It is akin to being lured to ingest poison. Only destruction can be the result. Hence, whatever is not approvable of Christ, is never to appeal to our fancy as believers in Christ. When the evil one wants to entice, it is always shrouded somehow with a view to preventing our seeing that it is a trap. For instance, imagine coming out of an intense prayer vigil and then getting invited to pick up a contract which in itself is phoney in that you are only invited to sign up for money without doing anything other than sharing it with some officials who brought it up. To the unassuming, it is an answer to prayers but to the watchful believer, it is a bait unto destruction. Jesus was so lured by Satan to turn stones to bread and bow to win ownership of the earth. Looking at it with ordinary eyes, it will appear sweet, but the spikes that are not edible have been hidden within some seeming delicacies. Do not swallow that hook. It is aimed to destroy.
Everyone that is currently being lured and enticed by sinners is released now by the blood of Jesus and their eyes are made clear thereby to see the booby trap involved in the enticement, in Jesus’ name. The power to overcome every evil luring we receive by the power of the Holy Spirit today in Jesus’ name. Whatever trap we had entered into before now, we declare the snare broken and therefore decree our freedom from it, in the name of Jesus. May the power of the Most-High be with us all to prevent the enemy from getting us entangled in his trap, ever again, in Jesus’ name. Like Christ, may we all be victorious to the very end, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: Let no sinner entice you to offend your God. There is nothing a sinner has to offer that outweighs the benefit in the love of God for us. Hence, like Joseph and Christ, whenever sinners entice you, be bold to resist them and say ‘get behind me Satan’, so that you may retain your sanctity.
