10. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10-12
The Lord is in a world of His own but superintends the affairs of the entire universe. He can do and undo at will. There is no creature that has any power over Him or can challenge His authority in any way. But those who will navigate life correctly pay obeisance to the Lord and give Him all the honor due to Him knowing that it is by the Lord that their own days can be multiplied and receive longevity. So, fearing God is where wisdom emanates from for those who fear Him elongate their lives by doing so. Fear can be negative in terms of an unpleasant emotion or terror; it can also be in the sense of respect or holding in awe, which is positive. The one that emanates wisdom is the positive one.
They that fear the Lord pay Him full respect by doing only the things He approves. They know that His instructions lead to life and are never mean, as some would want to believe. Balaam was a prophet who heard from the Lord clearly. He loved worldly resources than He loved the Lord. Balak, like the devil, had dangled the carrot of gold before his eyes for agreeing to curse the people that the Lord had blessed. Balaam received instruction clearly from God not to heed Balak’s invitation and instruction; so, he knew the mind of God. But the “gold” was too tempting for him to keep pestering God about the assignment. When eventually he yielded to his heart’s leading which appeared like God’s consent, he was confronted by an angel with the sword of fire. If not for a dutiful and spiritual donkey, his life would have been cut short for not fearing God to obey Him.
The Lord is saying to many today that we should stop leaning on our own understanding when we know clearly the will of God. Whenever we bend to satisfy our lusts, God is not in it. But if we can endure the hardship of refusing the temptation of the enemy, we stand protected under the banner of God. It is in this that we are acknowledged as those who do fear their God, and from there emanates wisdom in that the one whom we do fear is the author of life and that which He has, He gives to those who fear Him, readily. Let wisdom dictate your life from now: fear God and obey His commands completely, without pretending as if you do not know His will. He knows that you know.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the grace to commune with you and know your will per time. The enemy is out trying to make me do what you do not like by increasing my thirst and urge for the same; no matter the extent of the thirst, please never allow me to take poison, in the name of Jesus. In all that I do, let me forever remain in your will, in Jesus’ name. Let me by this, be accounted as one who fears you, indeed and be entitled to good elongated life, in Jesus’ name. Let today bring to me the brightness of sweet life, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
