Focus: Luke 16:13 - KJV
13. No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
2 Kings 12:1-3
Jehoash became king in Judah at the age of seven. The Bible records that he did that which was good before God while he was under the guidance of Jehoiada the priest. He did rule for forty years. However, he had a problem in that he did not destroy the high places. In doing that, he allowed the worship of “other gods” by letting the people offer sacrifice and burn incense in the high places. God is sovereign and jealous. He insists we must not have any other god aside Himself. A deviation from this is a rejection of His person as God. Jehoash wanted political correctness: for the reason the high places were introduced to Israel by Jeroboam was to forestall the people from straying to Jerusalem in search of God. To keep them in Samaria therefore, he built the high places and made idols for them. This was also introduced in Judah at some point.
This situation obtains in the midst of men today also. Many identify with the Most High as God, yet have their allegiance to other beings. Incidentally, where there is double allegiance, it is no allegiance at all in the sight of the Lord. God wants us to Himself alone. It is impossible for a servant to serve two masters. Just as it is impossible to claim to love two spouses equally, we cannot claim to love God and another being. God is jealous. Jehoash did not live long enough as a consequence of his action. He did many things to make it appear he loved God through the remodeling of the house of God; but when the enemy came, he was quick to offer the treasures of the same house to the enemy for his safety. This is tantamount to lack of trust in the Lord to save him. In the end, the enemies within his quarters slaughtered him as he did not have the Lord with him.
God stays away from them that observe double allegiance. If the Lord be God, then serve Him, alone. Otherwise, let Him be and serve fully the other being allegiance is owed to: whether it be money, fame, power, idols or any other thing that is held high up in the position of God. We must however warn ahead that there is no better place to be than on the side of the Lord. Those who make this choice find God faithful. No matter what the enemy throws at them, God keeps them safe. Never allow anything to shift your focus from God. Nothing on earth is worth it. A deviation from God makes Him to stay away. For as many that has strayed away who will return to Him by drawing near unto Him, He draws nearer to. If therefore, you had strayed hitherto, please navigate your return today.
SOLUTION: Let God be your God and do not share His space with any other. He wants you to Himself. He is too high to share space with menial things. He does not like being so insulted. Let go of every other thing contesting for space with God in your life, today.
Please pray: Dear Lord, I am sorry for having made you too small in my life; please forgive me. I surrender my entire being to you from today. Kindly rule and reign over my life to the exclusion of all others, in Jesus’ name. Let your reign dovetail into safety, success, blessings and victory for me in life, at all times, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
